bookshelf design
This freestanding bookshelf was designed for a true book lover to fit all of his ‘favorites‘ into a unique eye-catcher. The various heights are based on the books that would be hosted in each area. The material selection of 2cm thick oak wood and 6mm thick steel was based on durability and impact performance to be long-lasting. Additionally, the entire structure can be taken apart and be reassembled easily through smart interlocking elements at intersections. The neat puzzle seam was proposed by the collaborating craftsman and was enthusiastically agreed upon to provide a seamless transition between the different pieces. Micro threads join the metal pieces to an invisible artistic connection.

jewelry stand
The project was developed as an “object with personal value“. Since I love my selection of jewelry and enjoyed the idea of displaying it neatly, I developed this jewelry stand. After some research. I understood that I wanted to play with geometric shapes, but also mix soft and hard materials to reflect my joyful spirit. This was probably the biggest challenge to conform with. After sketching out an idea of the aesthetic look, I got into the building process, which proved to be the hardest. Drilling the angled holes to fit the stainless steel rods was a logical challenge in itself, and also the recessed parts in the walnut wood required focused attention to turn out just the way intended. Now, this art piece is a true highlight of my day, when choosing my jewelry to wear.

truck bed
This private project was completed to allow for the owner to travel and venture off the grid. A bed platform can be placed on the bottom or slide easily on top, where it is held in position by the 3 x 6” wooden studs. Furthermore, a lock can close the tailgate and keeps stored items safe. The cubbies on the side allow for storing utensils such as cooking equipment, toiletries or tools. Extreme attention was paid for flush fitting of all wooden pieces and the economic aspect of it all was considered throughout design and construction.

window restoration
During a four month work experience in a German craftsman workshop, I was able to gain some practical know-how. One project included the careful selection and mixture of vibrant, yet subtle paint colors to be paired with the historic brick facade of the former local school building. The wooden windows had to be sanded and finished, whereas in other places plastic windows were replaced by the new wooden windows that were built as a replica to the existing ones. For the new window frames, the facade partially had to be broken with an impact hammer. Furthermore, I was taught how to fit the custom-made glass sheets into the right place and precisely chiseled out areas to place the hinges.
